Infection Control is an important part of safe patient care. By understanding the infectious disease process and how it is impacted by proper infection control protocol we can reduce the risk of infection for both patients and practitioners. Participants will obtain the knowledge to properly implement necessary infection prevention and control measures in the dental practice. This lecture consolidates published recommendations from authoritative government agencies as well as regulatory bodies and professional associations.

Shauneen Ryan
Shauneen Ryan has several years of experience working in hospital and private dental clinic settings. Her career working with dental manufacturers gave her the opportunity to educate dental clinics on various dental products and equipment throughout North America.
As a SciCan representative, Shauneen can share all aspects of her expertise including the CDC, RCDSO, CDHO, PIDAC and OSAP standards/ guidelines on a day to day basis into “real life” settings.
After working closely with several tenured educators involved in the infection and prevention control circuit, including several well-respected oral health professionals, she was prompted to share her knowledge and educate Dental Health Care Providers to better understand the impact of emerging, highly contagious diseases. Her commitment to support dental professionals in protecting themselves and their clients has been of great assistance to the dental community.
